Heavy Wrinkles May be Linked to Low Bone Density - Page 2
Dr. Pal said that bones and skin share common building blocks with a group of proteins known as collagen. As we age, changes in our collagen make all that awful stuff happen to our face. That is when the skin starts to sag and we develop turkey necks that some either fix surgically, do exercises, or use lots of Oil of Olay products. Now we can add deterioration of the bone to the pile.
I realize any new findings are needed to substantiate a relationship between wrinkles and the risk of bone fracture. But I do believe this is one reason why I can no longer watch the old Streep/ Hawn film, “Death Becomes Her.” I feel some days that my body falling apart is similar to the characters in the film. At this age, I just don’t want to know anymore. Maybe after we have our last menstrual period, we should be allowed to stay in bed all day and not have to deal with being an older woman. Maybe someone should research that.
