How my Blog Spat With Mayim Bialik Went Viral - Page 2
The comments from the Holistic Moms started coming in fast and furious to my blog. Some were so vile I didn’t publish them. They attacked both Jenny and me for implying that Mayim was trying to be a perfect mommy.
After 24 hours of comments, I decided to respond. I wrote a very personal piece about my hippie, vegan, no-sugar, home-schooling upbringing in Topanga, CA. I told readers how I watched my mom refuse medical treatment and slowly die of breast cancer because she didn’t believe in Western medicine.
Suddenly, the attacks from The Holistic Moms Network ceased. Silence. They had no idea I had lived a bohemian life and knew all about it.
The blog spat between Mayim and me was written about by E Online! and Media Bistro (Fishbowl LA), resulting in a nice boost in traffic for my blog.
The uproar has taught me to have a thicker skin about blogging. I’m not as sensitive to negative comments. I am, however, aware that if you blog about a celebrity mom, even a minor one, she may unleash her supporters to attack you.
