When I turned 7 I received my first china tea set and my next door neighbor made me a birthday cake in the shape of a swan. All my friends were there in pretty voile dresses and we skipped our hearts out after we ate. No one ever talked about body image nor asked their parents for implants. If the word "plant" came up it was most likely talk about our parent’s gardens. When we received our first bra it was a ritual done in secret and not to be talked about. This year’s nomination for “What are you thinking Mom?” is Sarah Burge from the U.K. or better known as human Barbie. Instead of a coloring set she gave her 7-year-old daughter a $10,000 voucher for breast augmentation surgery. Burge said that her daughter Poppy begged for a boob job so Mom gave her a voucher so she can have it done at the legal age of 16. I can never remember any child I knew saying,

"I can't wait to be like Mummy with big boobs. They're pretty."

Burge cannot fathom that she is a bad mother and says she only wants the best for her child. Obviously the computer, pink Swarovski crystal ring and matching necklace was not enough. Poppy also thought the gift of a spa weekend from her mother would be the perfect time to discuss what else she should have done if she ends up growing up a healthy pair. Her mother thinks the open-ended gift should be a start to compete with her own $800,000 worth of surgery she has had.

Burge also believes that Cinderella and Snow White are no longer little girl’s priorities. She believes that having her daughter watch her next series of treatments, slated for later this year is. She added, "Poppy is a normal kid who is good at sports and loves playing outside." The question is if Poppy has been give these outrageous gifts what the heck is she playing with outside?
