Lynzee Stauss, College IS Necessary
If you have been on Facebook lately, you might have noticed a meme called "College Isn't Necessary" by a young lady named Lynzee Stauss. In her article, which was presumably written while she was in high school, she states that women should "marry a rich guy and not have to go to college." But, that's not the worst of it.
The first thing that I noticed was how undeniably atrocious her grammar is. My chinchilla could write with better grammar and he can't even hold a pencil! Seriously, if you're going to make a point ( especially an unpopular one), spelling and grammar come first. Then, it's the art of forming an argument. Funny enough, you actually learn how to do that in college! Crazy, huh?
The next thing that I should mention is that most stay at home moms are not gold diggers. In fact, many are hard working women. They wake up at the crack of dawn, change stinky diapers, cook, clean, and put their kids first. I might be in the minority here, but, I could never be a housewife. If done correctly, it's surprisingly difficult. Even most of the ones who can afford to go out and get their nails done, as Ms. Stauss suggests women should do, are too busy taking their kids to ballet/soccer/etc. to do so.
As a twenty-year-old woman who is currently a college student and freelance writer working hard on a double major so that she can go to law school, I take offense to these views.
Women are just as capable as men to be great employees and change the world. We are capable of making our own money and contributing to a family.
Do you think that women likeGloria Steinem and Jessica Valenti, who are smart and stunning, used their looks to change the world?Men are worth more than money and women are worth more than beauty.
To end this rant, I have a burning question: who wants to be treated like a princess when they can be treated like a queen? Seriously, grow up little girl.
