Making Music in the Kitchen - Page 2
Peter Neo, the friendly and talented Singaporean chef, who many consider to cook the best Italian fare in Singapore, was her able conductor for the night. Lynnette, the ever engaging composer with her menu of well orchestrated dishes, performed a musical tour-de-force in this kitchen, much to the delight of her "guinea pigs". The food itself, was as supreme as her concerts, always engaging and never missing a beat. At one stage, one could almost imagined Lynnette taking out a Stradivarius to top everything else that went before.
For the curious, the symphony conducted in the musical kitchen was as follows:
First Movement - Romchei Parma Ham with Lynnette's Raspberry Vinaigrette and Roma Tomatoes
Second Movement - Cream of Asparagus with Crabmeat and Wild Salmon Caviar
Third Movement - Seafood Linguine in Lobster Sauce
Fourth Movement - Norwegian Cod with Pumpkin Puree and Parma Reduction
Fifth Movement - Oven Roasted Ribeye with Foie Gras Sauce and Portobello Mushroom
Final Movement - Exotic Tiramisu
The audience, and diners, greeted her with rapturous applause and unanimous approval, and Lynnette, ever the gracious host, made a toast to everyone and humble as ever, the Singapore virtuoso thanked her incredible ensemble of helpers in the kitchen.
Music, like food, is creative and beautiful when played in the right key and cooked with the right recipe and precision. Passion, which is embodied in Lynnette Seah's music, is equally embodied in her cooking.
