Medford, Mass. Thieves Loot ATM Machine for $200,000
Early Saturday morning, thieves in Medford, Massachusetts broke into a Bank of America and stole more than $200,000 from an ATM machine. Currently, authorities are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the burglars.
The suspect or suspects overcame some of the most state-of-the-art security systems in the early morning. They stole all the cash, according to the Boston Globe. The ATM is inside a building that is currently being renovated. According to officials, the only area finished contained the ATM itself.
Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigations are unsure how the thieves broke into the building. These officials are seeking information from anyone who saw unusual activity near the bank on Friday night or Saturday morning. The FBI believes that someone with specific knowledge of ATM's, alarm and telecommunication systems was involved. Moreover, if anyone was missing from their home or work on Friday night, the FBI is seeking tips. And if anyone has a sudden windfall of money without a good explanation of its origin, the police want to know about it.
The suspect or suspects got away without any surveillance photos. Currently, Bank of American is offering a $15,000 reward and the FBI is adding its $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
