Pedophile Uses Ice Cream and Ambien to His Advantage

Ice cream will never taste the same for the victims of James Phillip Edwards, the 61 year old Kansas City man charged with molesting, photographing and videotaping girls between the ages of 6-13. The pedophile mixed Ambien and other sedatives into ice cream, and held ice cream eating contests with young girls as the contestants. He then went on to videotape them while unconscious, at times taping more than one victim at a time.
None of the victims realized that they were being drugged.
The age of the girls ranged from 6-13 and occurred between the years of 2001-2005. Edwards himself has said that these years by no means encompass the entire range of his crimes, as he began luring girls in 1997.
Edwards is pleading no contest to a 21 count federal indictment. The prosecutor accepted this plea in order to avoid a long trial and the strain it may leave on his young victims.
Edwards sought to disperse his findings on the internet and wrote How To manuals for his fellow pedophiles, sharing them on a peer to peer file sharing network. One of the manuals was entitled “Phil’s Kindergarten Class: ages 4-7” and the other “Pedo handbook: How to Molest Young Girls.” The latter included dosage amounts for drugs, taking into consideration body weight and the length of time desired for unconsciousness.
Edwards did not consider his actions wrong or criminal, believing laws that protect children to impose “arbitrary lines around sexual conduct.” He declared his sexual preference was for girls between the ages of 9-11.
Edwards was caught when he was investigated by two different agencies, who found he had downloaded child porn through a peer to peer sharing network, and had also received pornographic images on his cellphone.
