Pregnant Designer Poses For A Cause
During a time when most women choose to hide from the camera, the absolutely stunning (and pregnant) handbag designer Christina Elaine is sharing her insight on dressing women, especially those with big, beautiful baby bellies.
Christina wants women to feel confident and fashionable in their skin and in their clothing, so she is blogging daily tips and tricks that all women can apply to their fashion choices, from lengthening the silhouette to choosing the right accessories.
Lest you think this story is just about how to look your best, there's a deeper reason that Christina is subjecting her pregnant self to daily photo shoots. It's all in the interest of a good cause, which she has aptly named 1 Pregnancy, 140 Outfits, 1 Hope.
To this end, she is blogging and photographing the final 15 weeks of her pregnancy to raise money and awareness for Hope Village in Cairo, a shelter for abused and homeless women and children on the streets of Cairo, Egypt. With 60 days remaining in the project, Christina has raised $565 of her $2000 goal.
The cause is near and dear to her heart after three visits to Cairo when she saw many of the women and children with her own eyes. After escaping from desperate home situations, they were facing more pain and abuse living on the street.
The Hope Village Center serves to shelter these women and educate their children to help keep them safe and get them back on their feet.
Christina hopes that she is able to make a difference in the lives of those who need a little extra help to make it through safely, and as a mother she felt drawn to those moms and their children otherwise forgotten by society.
Christina Elaine is a London-educated accessories designer based in Hermosa Beach, CA where she can be found raising a preschooler, nesting for a new baby, acting the part of good wife, managing a design business and creating handbags and living space solutions in her hip, cool, very tight, beach town home.
If you would like to support Christina Elaine and the 15 Weeks of Fashion for Hope Village Cairo cause, make a donation at the partnership's Indie GoGo website and then sign up to follow her blog. Any amount is welcome; with a $100 donation, Christina Elaine will send you a mug and with a $1000 donation, a handbag will be named after you.
