Rosie’s OWN Show: O’Donnell Moving to Oprah’s Studio

Life couldn’t be rosier for one of television’s most popular – and controversial – talk-show hosts.
This past Monday, Rosie O’Donnell announced to her fans that she would be taping a new talk show from Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo studios, located in Chicago. According to a recent article, Rosie has been earmarked to produce 130 episodes of her new program for Oprah’s OWN network this coming fall.
As much as she is loved by her tried and true fan base, the former host of The View as well as of her eponymous show that aired on NBC from 1996-2002 is not without her share of detractors. Her most famous protagonist, perhaps, was Donald Trump, who publicly sparred with the outspoken celebrity during her stint on The View in 2006. As well, O’Donnell was involved in many public altercations on the show with her former co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Nevertheless, Oprah has put her faith in Rosie to bring in viewers with her saucy, and often unpredictable style. Said Winfrey in a statement: "I'm delighted to welcome Rosie to the studio I've called home for so many years. Speaking from experience, she will be working with the best team in television in one of the greatest cities in the world."
Citing Oprah as one of her influences, O’Donnell hopes to have a similar effect on audiences, stating that she would like her new show to “make a difference in viewer's lives” and be “uplifting.”
Could this be a shift from the comedienne/host's usual provocative style?
The answer to this question remains to be seen with viewers as the final judges.
