Silly Political Argument of the Day - Contraception
This morning the early echo chambers were yakking about the silly topic of the day . The economy is in the tank. Republicans are privatizing the public domain at an alarming rate. And the great national issue is over requiring businesses to pay for contraception. If representatives of alien cultures from the stars are observing I doubt this country will be deemed to be inhabited by intelligent creatures. Demagogue Santorum leads the charge and other politicos scramble to match his huge urge to deny young women the right to make their own choices free of economic compulsion.
But the debate is deeply flawed and completely misses the point! No employer should be providing health insurance, it should be Medicare for all. Private health insurance costs up for administration are as inevitably higher than single payer systems.
The mechanism to administer health care payments is tried tested inexpensive and could easily embrace the entire population. Estimated savings as high as 30% seem to justify this move. Get the delivery of health care back to non-profit administration and get over the notion that our stupid choice is the best choice. If it is so great why is no other industrialized nation on the planet following our model. Are Americans so truly stupid that they believe they are not paying for their own insurance in the form of lower wages.
If we had really had health care reform, then Catholics and everyone else would have access to all forms of health care. Catholic women should be free to chose whether or onto use contraception and its no one else's business. Men shut up, its not something you have any rights to protect. Life should only begin when a mother decides to be a mother, not when some poor teenage rape victim is denied a morning after pill!
All persons are born equally naked and ignorant! One of our problems is the concreted efforts of the righteous to keep us that way till death do us part.
