Adopted Tennessee Boy Returned to Russia
Many families who are having problems becoming pregnant turn toward adoption agencies for help. When you start out on such a journey you have a lot of hope and expectations and can't wait for the day that you will receive a little child in your arms that is yours. But for some this dream almost becomes a nightmare. Just like it did for 33-year-old Torry Hansen of Shelbyville, Tennessee. As most of you have problem heard or read, Torry adopted a 7-year-old boy last September from a Russian orphanage from the town of Partizansk in Russian's Far East.
After 6 months Torry and her mother, Nancy Hansen, put Artyom Savelyev, who Torry renamed Justin Hansen, on a plane back to Russia with a note saying that she no longer wished to parent the child. She had put a note in his backpack for the Russian officials, that read "This child is mentally unstable. He is violent and has severe psychopathic issues. I was lied to and misled by the Russian Orphanage workers and director regarding his mental stability and other issues. After giving my best to this child, I am sorry to say that for the safety of my family, friends, and myself, I no longer wish to parent this child."
Since this case has surfaced there has been a lot of talk and rage about how you can just return a child. Many people have been shocked to learn that Torry put such a young child on a plane by himself. But Nancy Hansen has rejected claims that her daughter abandoned Justin. She made sure he was watched by a flight attendant and she had found a man on-line and paid him $ 200 to pick up Justin at the Moscow airport. The issue is not whether it is legal or not to send you child by plane alone. But how is it possible to discard your son so easily?Continued on the next page
