If I'm being empathic, I can look at the situation from her side. I noticed this woman earlier in the day because she had some bruises on her face. I'm pretty sure it was from cosmetic surgery, but it could have been in an accident. Either way, she may have been hurting or had a headache. Perhaps she was tired and didn't realize her comment would come out so rudely, though I'm pretty sure she meant it that way. Still, we can control how we react to situations and I let it get to me more than it should have. Next time (and with kids, there is always a next time), I should brush it off and move on, but I find that easier said than done. How do you deal with rude people, especially when it comes to your kids? What's your best witty comeback?
