The Disney Social Media Moms Conference Shouldn't Be the Latest Blogging Scandal - Page 2
Instead of being commended for being as fair and inclusive as possible with limited capacity, the organizers of the Disney Social Media Moms Conference were berated for using secret criteria to select applicants. I hope this will not deter them from having the conference again in 2012 and from having the selection process be open to the wide blogging public.
I was not on the invite list for the 2010 conference, and my name was very low on the wait list. I turned to the tweet stream to get a sense of what the conference was like, and decided to do all I could to get to attend in 2011. I paid attention to the #DisneySMMoms hashtag, made sure that I was at my computer when the registration window opened and got into the conference. I wouldn't have been as motivated to attend without the passionate tweets from last year's attendees, and I encourage all those who read my tweets this year and wished they were part of the fun and excitement to register for next year's conference.
The Disney Social Media Moms Conference is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Participants have the chance to interact with world-class speakers and can enjoy the Disney Parks as a VIP. Instead of leaving your family behind, they too can be making their own memories. The fact that this opportunity is made available to a broader pool than the usual crew of top 50 bloggers is a gift from Disney, one that we shouldn't destroy with our addiction to mama drama.
