What Happens To The Industries Oprah Infused With Millions? - Page 2
But with The Oprah Show officially ending on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, what happens to the industries she infused with millions? And what about those who believed (with their vision boards) that they, too, would be guests on this influential platform and find fortune and fame as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things?
The good news for publishing professionals, small business owners and rising gurus is that Oprah herself isn’t leaving the small screen. She will be hosting an evening program called “Oprah’s Next Chapter” later in 2011 that will take her out of the studio and into the world. Knowing Oprah’s style of sharing and conscious decision-making, it is likely that she will continue to have recommendations of all kinds to offer her loyal viewers along the way.
Her cable channel OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) now has nearly 30 original television shows with a slew of topics, personalities and messages. Her endorsements can be found throughout the premium cable channel. The main difference, however, is that the public will now have to seek out her Favorite Things on premium cable instead of having them delivered daily through basic programming. Books, new products and emerging experts will still push through to a national audience, but it will likely be through television shows and hosts that she supports in the background. It certainly isn’t the same as her holding a lotion, brownie pan or book light in her hands in front of millions.
Don’t put your vision board away just yet though. The Oprah Effect has been a multi-million dollar grossing machine for decades and it isn’t likely to go away when the The Oprah Show's studio lights are turned off. Oprah’s vision for her life has expanded. Perhaps the best observation will be seeing what industries can expand with her.
