Because getting through the initial pain of being single can be exactly what sends couples back into each others arms, getting through this time with the support of friends, taking a yoga class, joining a gym or even crossing something off of a bucket list can be significantly helpful in keeping busy until the wounds can be re-examined by a clear mind.

Taking an emotional break and stepping back from a toxic relationship is the best way to put it into perspective. The problem with getting caught in an on-again, off-again relationship is that the breakups often leave little time for reassessment since couples cave under the pressure of singleness. Taking advantage of this emotional separation to identify what is needed in a long-term and committed relationship can be exactly what is needed to determine whether the relationship is worth fighting for or if the best thing for both people is to put the romance on a permanent hiatus.
