Why I Love My Gym
Back in the spring, after a two-year interruption largely due my moving countries, I decided that I wanted to join a gym again. It is not that I had stopped exercising during this period: cycling, running, swimming and Wii Fit. However, I was getting a bit bored with the repetition of it all, and also thought interaction with other members would be a good idea.
I started to research what was available in the area where I live and matched my options to my personal criteria:
- Variety
- Friendly atmosphere
- Fitness/Health check-up available
- Flexible training times
- Inexpensive
- No more than a fifteen minutes drive or bike ride

At 25 Euros a month, it is really good value, and this includes a monthly check-up to map your progress. The opening hours are flexible enough that I can go there when a convenient slot appears in my day. A nutrition program is on offer for those who want to lose weight, and I have to say that some of the results I have seen are pretty spectacular! Every week I pick up the new recipe being handed out, and the ones I have tried so far were delicious. The atmosphere is also incredibly welcoming and friendly. As its name gives away, it is a women only club, which was not a requirement for me. It does however mean that for someone who has never had a membership in her life, or is really out of shape, it is a lot less intimidating than a "regular" gym. Finally, various events are regularly organized, which adds to the fun even more.
I was there this morning and walked out feeling great. So great that I decided to write about it!
