The world’s most pierced woman Elaine Davidson acquired one more ring last week. Davidson, who has 7000 piercings on her body, took a conservative non pierced man to be her loving husband. Her new beloved, Douglas Watson reported that Davidson looked astonishing. He said,

"People see the piercings, but I see the amazing personality underneath. We have known each other for a long time.”

Once upon a time I had many body piercings but they all rejected due to an allergy of metal. One by one they fell off my body and it was not a pretty sight. Every time I went through airport security I worried that the alarm might go off. If I was worried about a breast piercing how can the new Mrs. Watson explain 1500 internal piercings to airport security?

Is it self loathing or art? Is looking like a human tackle box worth being in the Guinness World Book of Records? Davidson initially had 462 piercings when she won the coveted award and one would think she might have stopped there.

Davidson who is 46 years old estimates the rings and studs weigh about three kilos and she never removes them. I know what an infected piercing looks like and this seems to me like she is a walking petri dish.

One must be tolerant today with all these new body expressions whether it is in plastic surgery or piercings. If people can inject Botox in their face I feel I must respect this also and wish the couple all the best.

Understanding her obsession with body modification one has to ask why she wore fairy wings as a veil topper. As they say on Sesame Street, some of these things just don’t go together!

One thing for sure is that her husband will have no problem wondering what to get her for her birthday or their anniversary.
